Richmond Field Station

Richmond Field Station (RFS) is UC Berkeley's research and innovation hub on the San Francisco Bay, a 175-acre College of Engineering site in Richmond with more than 500,000 sq ft of assignable space. It offers flexible lab and office space, outdoor testing zones and specialized infrastructure for UC research units, startups and student organizations.

Facilities include an autonomous-vehicle test track, V2X infrastructure, a drone park in the East Bay's only FAA-recognized identification area, and one of the world's largest earthquake shake tables, with testbeds spanning land, sky, sea and space. In 2025 the Institute of Transportation Studies launched the Berkeley Mobility Hub at RFS.
